Umpire Certification
Certification for 2026
Level 1 & 2 Certification Process for Umpires with 1-4 Years Experience:
There will be up to 3 components to certification:
- Complete an online Umpire Learning Course.
- Attend an in-person Umpire Camp.
- Complete Baseball Ontario volunteer screening requirements as outlined on the Baseball Ontario website and in the ONDeck app. (this requirement for 18 Years of Age and Older)

In-Person Clinic:
Leamington will be hosting the In-Person clinic on Friday, April 17th, 2026 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre Gymnasium.
LDMBA Umpires will be given a private link to register between February 1st and February 13th.
After February 13th our clinic and other local clinics will be visible for umpires to register in case April 17th doesn't work out for you.
LDMBA umpires to ensure your space in our clinic complete the form 'RETURNING LDMBA Umpires'
New Umpires to LDMBA complete the form '2026 New Umpire Application'

COSTS:
Level 1 - $30
Level 2 - $50
Umpire Online Learning Course Details:
- Will contain a series of interactive, independent learning modules
- Is designed to be self-directed and self-paced, taking approximately 2 hours in total to complete
- Covers rules, mechanics, and positioning considerations for umpires
In-Person Umpire Camp Details:
- 4 hours in length
- Held in a gym or indoor field facility. (Nature Fresh Farm Recreation Centre)
- Hosted by local associations
- Fun and active, with an emphasis on game situations and umpiring fundamentals
- Attended by both Level 1 and 2 umpires in a combined setting
- Run by two Baseball Ontario Clinicians, ensuring that content is still differentiated by level where needed.
EQUIPMENT YOU NEED:
1. Umpire Shirt - Black is Leamington's Umpire Shirt, our 2nd colour is Powder Blue.
2. Umpire Pants - Charcoal
3. Umpire Hat - plain black or with Baseball Canada logo on it.
4. Baseball Cleats (their playing cleats are fine)
5. Brush - Counter - Umpire Pouch

Baseball Town - online (stores in Quebec, Ottawa)
Kahunaverse Sports - online only.
Can also find equipment from local umpires that have moved on or out grown. Second hand is totally fine.
